OK, so I re-watched it. This is NOT critical thinking. He is telling the student what to believe. Twice he does the interpretation for the student. The Rowling situation is absolutely nuanced and Rowling's tweets are, of coursed, biased towards her beliefs and written in a way to make it difficult to see the nuance that she is, of course, not mentioning.
